MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin made a campaign stop at Felker Brothers Manufacturing in Marshfield Thursday morning to talk about global trade issues, and her efforts to stop the circumvention of International Trade Commission regulations.

"I have seen so many cases that have already been decided, and then countries that try to get around these decisions," Baldwin explained.  "They're just tying to circumvent the rules."

Baldwin told Felker employees that she's worked on trade issues like a prohibition on "trans-shipments," a practice used by countries like China.  "Instead of the box being labeled from China, they will make it in China, and then send it to another country, and then it will come here."

And Baldwin also touted her bi-partisan support of "Buy American" legislation that benefits American companies like Felker Brothers, who manufactures stainless steel products piping systems, to help rebuild the country's infrastructure.

"We passed a 'Water Infrastructure Bill' in the Senate before we recessed for the election, and President Trump signed it into law last week," Baldwin said.  "It had a five-year 'Buy American' provision."

Following her remarks to employees, Baldwin also toured the Felker Brothers manufacturing facilities.  Felker Brothers is one of Marshfield's oldest businesses having been founded in 1903.
