Well known ham radio operator dies in fall from tower

FALL CREEK, WI (WSAU-MetroSource) An elderly man is dead after falling over 50 feet at his antenna farm on his property in Fall Creek. The fire chief says 84-year-old Paul Bittner fell while on Wednesday and was later found dead at the scene.

Bittner was known to dabble in amateur radio and had many antenna and radio towers on his property, making it known as an antenna farm. He was known by many ham radio operators under his call sign W0AIH.

One report says Bitner was performing maintenance on one of his towers at the time of his death.

He was a retired Lutheran paster. Funeral arrangements are pending.
