RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) A woman claimed she was held hostage at gunpoint inside a Rhinelander hotel on Tuesday night.
Rhinelander police are investigating after getting a 911 call, bringing them to the Roadway Inn on Kemp Street around 5:30pm. According police report says the victim told officers she was able to escape and call for help after hitting the man in the head with a liquor bottle. She was assaulted by the man.
Officers said they tried to make contact with the man inside the hotel room. When he wouldn't respond he Oneida County Sheriff’s Department and Special Response Team assisted. The SRT was able to get into the room and used pepper spray to subdue the man. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Oneida County jail. His name hasn't been released.
The Rhinelander Fire Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted in the case.
