TOWN OF RUDOLPH, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- It's the busiest time of the year for the tiny Rudolph, Wisconsin post office.

“We have people lined up coming to the post office to get their holiday cards stamped with the special Rudolph home of the red nose reindeer stamps,” Becky Trzebiatowski, who works at the Rudolph Post Office, told WAOW TV.

The Christmas tradition dates back to 1945, and for some has become a family tradition to commemorate the holidays.

For others, it's a way of sharing a Central Wisconsin tradition with friends and family all over the country. “It’s very darling we have lived all over the country for a number of years and we are sending cards to friends all over the country and they will get a chance to see the Rudolph stamp that is very well known in this area,” said Debra Fergason of Stevens Point.

In addition to those who come to the post office requesting the special cancelation, staff processes mail from as far away as Californa or Europe with the special mark.

Postal workers can process up to 10,000 pieces of mail with the stamp each day.
