Radiohead has released a statement expressing surprise that the band was chosen for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.

"The members of Radiohead have been surprised to learn of the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019," reads a press release. "The band thanks the Hall of Fame voting body and extends congratulations to this year's fellow inductees."

Members of Radiohead have previously been less-than enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming Rock Hall inductees. Speaking with  Rolling Stone in 2017, guitarist Jonny Greenwood says he "[doesn't] care" about getting inducted, and frontman Thom Yorke started to say that the Rock Hall "wouldn't be the first place..." before stating, "Don't ask me things like that. I always put my foot in my mouth."

Additionally, when they were nominated for the 2018 class, Radiohead scheduled a show in Argentina the same day as the induction ceremony before the official inductees were even announced.

Bassist Colin Greenwood , though, said he'd be "grateful" to be inducted. "I don't know if everyone else will go, though," he said in the Rolling Stone interview. "It might be me just doing bass versions of everything like, 'Come on, you know this one!' I'd have to play the bass part to 'Creep' five times."

The other 2019 Rock Hall inductees include Def Leppard , The Cure , Janet Jackson , Stevie Nicks , Roxy Music and The Zombies .
