Suspicious driver leads to meth bust in Shawano County

TOWN OF SENECA, WI (WSAU) -- Officers in Shawano County are investigating an incident involving a suspicious driver found along Highway 29 in the Town of Seneca.

The incident started with a call about a car in the median along the highway. Officers observed a man sitting in the vehicle with a blanket over his head. The man didn't respond to verbal commands by the officers, so they approached the vehicle to take the blanket off his head.

As they approached him they observed a gun in the center console of the vehicle. A special response team was called to the scene and after their arrival, the man exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

Officers identified the driver as a 38-year-old man from Appleton. Charges against him include 3rd offense OWI, resisting/obstructing an officer, carrying a concealed weapon, and going impaired while intoxicated.

The man's name was not released.
