UNDATED (MetroSource-WSAU) The Southern Poverty Law Center has created a map that shows the locations of hate groups around the country. One is located in Milwaukee.
The group ‘New Order’ has a post office box in West Allis. They’re classified as a neo-Nazi hate group. The group updated its website after the recent mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
An official from the Milwaukee-Jewish Federation says it's important to realize that incidents like the one in Pittsburgh are not isolated incidents.
The Southern Poverty Law Center says there are more than 900 hate groups in the United States.
Some have claimed that the SPLC’s map is overly broad an should not include religious groups. Their map of Wisconsin lists Stahlhelm Records of Milwaukee as a purveyor of hate music. They also list the Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology in Shawano County as a “general hate group” and they classify the Pilgrims Covenant Church in Monroe as “anti LGBT”.
