MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) -- The dazzling “Winter Wonderland” holiday lights display opens for its 13th season in Marshfield’s Wildwood Park on Friday; and according to event co-chair Scott Larson, like always there's a lot that's new.

"We're always adding and changing the display, so one year is never the same as the last."  Besides the ever-changing lights displays, there's live musical entertainment from local artists almost every night in "The Gingerbread House," which is also a great place to warm up for any of the visitors choosing to walk through the light display.

Larson says there’ll be more than a million lights again this year, put up by an army of volunteers, and they'll be shining bright on special events almost every night.  "There will be carriage rides on some designated Saturdays, and there will be Santas on many nights leading up to Christmas Eve."

You can either walk or drive through Winter Wonderland; or as Larson says, more and more people are doing both!  "They'll either drive through and then come back around and do a walk through, or they'll do a walk through and then do the drive through on the way out."

Admission is free, but organizers are collecting food and cash donations for area food pantries.  "The mission of the event is to raise funds and food for the needy in the area, and so we are supporting about 23 food pantries around the central Wisconsin area."

Winter Wonderland opens in Marshfield's Wildwood Park from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. every night through December 31st.   You can find the full schedule of events at http://www.rotarywinterwonderland.com/.
