WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- Newman Catholic football coach has been named the high school “coach of the week” by the Green Bay Packers.
Paul Michlig is in his 17th year as the head coach of Newman Catholic's football program. He recently led the Cardinals to a 58-34 victory over Milford/Cissna. With the win, the Cardinals remain the top-ranked eight-man football team in the state.
Michlig tells WAOW-TV of the award, “To be honest with you it is all about the players and the assistant coaches I have had. It is not an individual award it is a team award.”
In addition to the award, Newman Catholic gets a $2,000 donation from the Packers.
