WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- A wall honoring fallen soldiers from Marathon County is set to be re-dedicated in Wausau on Saturday.

The Wausau American Legion Post 10 Veteran's Memorial Wall has been moved from Bunker's to just outside the first tee box at the Tribute Golf Course, and according to Tom Passow. He says after years inside the restaurant, the wall is now in a better place. "It's very visible to the public as they come to golf or enjoy the restaurant."

A dedication ceremony will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the wall, Tassel says that will mark the end of over 18 months of work that began with removing the wall from Bunkers and preparing a place for it on the course. The new display features nine columns of Rib Mountian granite with names etched in them for every person from Marathon County killed during WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. The columns are held up by a stainless steel support system and are tied together with a banner reading "In memory of those who gave all, freedom isn't free." Passow adds that the display will be lit from dusk till dawn as well.

Passow calls the monument an appropriate way for friends and relatives to remember those that gave their lives for the United States, and he also hopes that the memorial will serve as a reminder to everyone else. "The general public needs to be aware of this. And if you can't attend this weekend, feel free to come out at any other time the course is open and just spend a few moments reflecting."

The project was funded through donations made by several Wausau businesses.
