TOWN OF CLEVELAND, WI (WSAU) -- Area schools were put on a brief lockdown Tuesday morning after a false report of a school bus driver being threatened with a firearm.

The Marathon County Sheriff's office says it happened in the Town of Cleveland this morning. After investigating it was determined that no firearm was involved. Instead, the presumed weapon was a microphone from a documentary crew working in the area.

Officials have made it clear that no weapon was involved and no students were in danger.

Marathon, Edger, Stratford, Spencer and Athens school districts were all put on lockdown as a precaution. Those lockdowns have since been lifted.
