Halloween road closures on West Fifth Street in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- It's become an annual Halloween tradition, and once again this year West Fifth Street in Marshfield will be closed to vehicles so that little ghosts and goblins can enjoy trick-or-treating in a safe and fun environment according to city engineer Tom Turchi.

"For Halloween we get quite a few children and parents that use West fifth Street.  Approximately 1400 kids approach each of the homes that are along this corridor," Turchi explained.

A 7-block stretch of West Fifth between Oak and Schmidt Avenues will be closed from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m on Halloween, with Adams Avenue left open for cross traffic.  Turchi says, "The street will be closed from Oak Avenue to Adams Avenue.  And then Adams Avenue to Schmidt Avenue."

And remember, safety always comes first!  Turchi cautioned that, "Even though West fifth Street is being closed, it would advisable to drive slowly through these areas and to watch for kids throughout all our trick-or-treating."

Motorists are reminded that parking is restricted on many adjacent side streets, and that parking at SJ Miller sports complex on Oak Avenue or at the Our Lady of Peace Church on Schmidt Avenue is being recommended.   Checkout the attached map for more details on that road closure and suggested parking areas.
