Expect a snowy wet mess if you're travelling in the Northwoods this weekend. Chris Gitro from the National Weather Service in Duluth says a storm system will move through Minnesota and into Wisconsin starting Friday night into Saturday. "We're trying to get the word out that we're going to have some hazardous travel conditions this weekend, and we would like everybody to stay home if possible, or at the very least use extreme caution if travelling."
Gitro says far northern Wisconsin could see a few inches of snow, while the rest of the region should expect snow, rain, and a chance of ice build up. "That drier air starts to get wrapped up into that system, move over the area, and could ultimately result in snow changing over into freezing drizzle, freezing rain."
Central and southern parts of the state could see heavy rain, and the possibility of street flooding. One concern is areas where storm drains are already covered with ice and snow.
