SHAWANO, WI (WSAU-WAOW)  A former teacher has reached a plea agreement in two separate cases; one involved multiple counts of child pornography, the other involved sexual contact with a student.

Timothy Schmidt appeared in Shawano County court on Wednesday for a plea hearing. He entered 'no contest' pleas to charges of sexually assaulting a student by a school staff member, child enticement leading to sexual contact, and 12 counts of possession of child pornography. Sixteen other charges were read into the record but were dismissed..

Schmidt was a music teacher in Gresham when he was arrested. Schmidt resigned from the district in March 2017.

The mother of a student came forward to say Schmidt was having inappropriate contact with her teenage daughter.

Schmidt also reached a plea agreement in a separate case in which he was charged with 91 counts of possession of child porn. He pled 'no contest' to 50 of those child porn charges. The remainder of the charges will also be dismissed but read into the record.

The court ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and a “psycho-sexual evaluation” before sentencing. He'll be sentenced on February 7.
