MADISON, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) Democratic candidate for governor Tony Evers says if he is elected he would revisit state air permits issued to electronics maker Foxconn. Evers made his comments during an interview with the editorial board of the Madison State Journal.

He said: “I’ve had many scientists look at that approval process and they’ve found many flaws with that decision made by the Department of Natural Resources,” Evers said. “So I would take that information and the approval and say, ‘How can we get from here to here?” He didn’t say what specific problems there were with the process. He also said permits could be rescinded if Foxconn doesn’t meet air quality standards.

Evers has been a frequent critic of state incentives to bring Foxconn to Wisconsin. Scott Walker has said the jobs will be a driver of economic activity around the state.

Evers also said Wednesday that he's open to exploring exceptions to a proposed $15-minimum wage in rural areas and for teen workers.

He says he's resolved the plagiarism matter as he would with a student, by admonishing the staff member who was responsible rather than expelling. He did not name the person involved.
