STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- A first-of-its-kind children's dental clinic is opening in Portage County.

The Smile Club, located in the Boy's and Girl's Club facility on Michigan Avenue, will provide no charge dental services to area children. Katie Kupcyzk says there's currently no other facility like it in the state.

"We are the first Boys and Girls Club in Wisconsin to have a dental clinic located right inside, providing greater access for preventative health," she said.

Delta Dental of Wisconsin made a $1 million donation to the clinic to get them off the ground. Kupcyzk says all services such as routine cleanings, X-Rays, and checkups will be provided absolutely free of charge to anyone who uses the club.

In addition to the support from Delta Dental, the clinic is also able to bill either BadgerCare or Medicaid for services.

Should a child require restorative services like fillings or crowns a network of dentists has volunteered their services to complete those jobs at no cost to the family at all.

Parents who want more information about the clinic and how to take advantage of the free services can call The Smile Club directly at 715-204-1180.
