"My Own Prison" is about Scott Stapp's struggles with life when he was questioning his faith.

"My Own Prison" was the lead single off the Creed album of the same name in 1997. The music was written by guitarist, Mark Tremonti and the lyrics were written by lead singer, Scott Stapp. The song is about Stapp's struggles with life while questioning his faith, he felt as if he had created a prison in his own mind. As Creed became more popular he realized he had created a different kind of prison for himself with addiction, alcoholism, and unflattering incidents that were all over the tabloids. 

The song made it to #2 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and #1 on the Active Rock chart. The album was certified platinum 6 times and is one of the top 200 selling albums of all time!
