It's one thing when a band is obscuring the meaning to their songs for personal reasons. But when a band doesn't reveal the meaning to a song for the purpose of making you mad, well that's another! If you look up the meaning to Foo Fighter's "The Pretender" you'll get something along the lines of "Oh, Doesn't it suck when a band doesn't reveal what a song's about? Such a drag huh?" and then nothing remotely close to an explanation as to what "The Pretender" is about.
What I do know is that the song was written in just a matter of days, rather than a couple of weeks like most of Foo Figthers' songs took!
