STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- After only four months on the job, Jefferson Elementary School's new principal has resigned their position.

The Stevens Point Journal is reporting that Principal Scott Huff submitted his resignation letter to the Stevens Point Area District. Huff began at Jefferson Elementary in August after working at Clintonville in Waupaca County for two years.

The Stevens Point School Board accepted Huff's resignation behind closed doors at their monthly meeting this Monday according to spokeswoman Sarah O'Donnell. Huff's resignation is effective immediately and his information has been removed from the district's website. O'Donnell did decline to say a reason for Huff's resignation.

Huff also worked in the Marshfield School District before working in Waupaca County as an associate principal. Huff taught in the Marshfield School District for over 18 years before going to Waupaca.

The District has appointed retired SPASH principal Mike Devine to be acting principal at Jefferson through December. The district said in a letter sent to parents on Tuesday that they hope to let parents know the district's long-term plans before winter break begins on December 24th.
