UNDATED (MetroSource-WSAU) A missing Sauk County boy is safe after being found in Virginia Beach on Thursday. The nine-year-old was reported missing last Sunday after his mother took him for a short visit and failed to return to his grandparent's house.
Sauk County deputies say the child’s mother asked to take the boy for ride and didn’t return.
Police found the boy and 29-year-old Julia Byrdic in the back bedroom of a home. Mother and son were located after a joint investigation by police in both states. She was arrested and will be extradited to Wisconsin on charges of interfering with a child custody order.
The boy is being held by Virginia child protective services while his relatives in Wisconsin make arrangements to bring him back to the state.
