EAU CLAIRE, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) An Osseo man is in the Eau Claire County jail for allegedly stealing a vehicle and a service dog while under the influence.
A criminal complaint says 26-year-old Nathan Hakes stole the car Sunday with a service dog inside from a private lot on Barstow Street in Eau Claire. The owner used a cellphone app to track the vehicle to a bar where Hakes was inside with the dog.
Hakes is facing one felony count of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, operating while intoxicated (2nd offense), and misdemeanor dog-napping. He’s posted a $500 signature bond and will return to court on February 4th.
The service dog was not harmed.
