MILWAUKEE, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) - Charges may be filed against a traveler who tried to take a loaded firearm through security at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. The weapon was found Wednesday in the passenger's carry-on bag. It was discovered during an x-ray screening at the TSA security checkpoint.

It was a .380 Ruger, and was loaded with six rounds. WITI-TV says sheriff's deputies confiscated the weapon.

Firearms need to be declared at check-in, and must be stowed in the cargo hold in a hard-plastic case. They are not allowed as carry-on items.

The Transportation Security Administration says this is the ninth firearm found at a Milwaukee checkpoint this year. 15 firarms were confiscated at the airport last year.
