EAU CLAIRE, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) - Wildlife officials are investigating reports of deer poaching in Eau Claire County. The DNR Conservation Warden said Wednesday there have been more than ten people and 10 to 20 deer involved. Conservation Warden Ken Thomson says several people have been questioned in the case, but not arrests have been made.

Officials say multiple citizens have complained about finding deer carcasses dumped in various areas.

A conviction for poaching is punishable by a fine and a three year revocation of all hunting and fishing privileges.

The gun-deer season opens on Saturday morning.
