MERRILL, WI (WSAU) -- A plea deal is likely in the case against a Stevens Point man who's accused of trying to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex.

Online court records indicate Leo Pelot has a plea hearing scheduled for January 23rd and a sentencing hearing scheduled for April 12th. Charges against him include trafficking a child, child enticement, and attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child.

His case was originally scheduled to go to a three-day trial today.

Court documents indicate Pelot made arrangments with an undercover cop posing as the girl's uncle. He met the cop at a Merrill restaurant to exchange payment for a hotel key card, where the girl would be staying. Officers showed up at the hotel and arrested the 67-year-old man.
