Chevelle is already a family affair -- frontman Pete and drummer Sam Loeffler are brothers, and bassist Dean Bernardini is their brother-in-law -- so it's not like Thanksgiving is the only chance they get to see each other. They still often do spend time together for Turkey Day, while also spending time with their individual families.

"Our extended family has two real traditions, which is Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we get together with those," Sam tells ABC Radio. "But Pete and I and Dean, we all have our own families, we have kids and wives and stuff, so it's good to celebrate those things with them, as well."

"And dogs, too," Pete adds.

Pete's dog, a now 12-year-old Yorkie , used to travel with Chevelle on the band's tour bus in his younger days.

"He's been all over the country, into Canada," Pete says. "He hates the bus now. He used to love it. Run right up the steps, into the bunk."

In addition to spending time with family and petting what is surely an adorable dog, the Loeffler brothers will also be gearing up for a busy 2019.  They hope to release a new Chevelle album, the follow-up to 2016's The North Corridor , "the early part of next year."

"We are done touring for the year, and we're just working on these songs," Pete says. "We've got a little bit of a collection of demos now, we just need to work those through as a full band."
