Trial Ordered for Woman Accused of Embezzling Workplace

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- A woman accused of embezzling over $470,000 from her place of work in Stevens Point is headed to trial.

Kristin Lapree, age 50, was in court on Monday for her preliminary hearing on four felony charges of theft in a business setting of over $100,000, forgery, fraudulent writings by a corporate officer, and identity theft for financial gain. The court found there to be enough evidence to believe Lapree committed a felony.

Lapree is accused of stealing over $470,000 from Rettler Corporation in Stevens Point, where she worked as their business manager for over 6 years. She did so by impersonating the company's owner and forging checks for personal gain

Lapree will be back in court on January 2nd, 2019 for a pre-trial conference.
