MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) -- It's National Fire Prevention Week, and in Marshfield that means the 15th annual "Fired Up for Fire Safety" event on Sunday.
Fire chief Scott Owen says it all starts at noon on Sunday with the popular "fire engine parade" on Central Avenue, and Owen says, "It's quite a spectacle! The event starts with a parade kicking off at noon from the fairgrounds. And it's a parade of emergency vehicles from about 15 different emergency organizations."
Then following the parade, there's demonstrations starting at around 12:30 including the "Teddy Bear Drop," and a ton of other activities for kids and adults alike.
"There's a lot of activities for the kids, a lot of hands on time. A lot of chances to go and meet all of the emergency responders," Owen said. "The kids have a great time. A lot of the adults have a really good time as well. It's just a fun event, and the kids get a kick out of it every year."
Also participating in that "Get Fired Up" event in Marshfield are emergency first responders from Vesper, Spencer, Auburndale, Pittsville, and many other surrounding areas.
