MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) -- Officials in the City of Mosinee are ready to welcome President Donald Trump with open arms on Wednesday.

Mayor Brent Jacobson says no matter what your political views are, being able to host a sitting President is an honor. "We welcome the President and hope he has a nice, understandable and probably, brief visit to the City."

Jacobson says there is a history of political candidates or sitting Presidents and Vice Presidents coming to CWA. In 1992 Jacobson himself was there with his dad (who was Mayor at the time) to great then-Vice President Dan Quail when he visited the airport. Jacobson also recalls President George W. Bush paid a visit to the facility during his time in office.

Jacobson said he hasn't been asked to be a part of the event, but the city's Police Force is involved.

The Mayor also calls the visit a chance to expose the Central Wisconsin Airport and its recent upgrades to those who may not know about the regional facility. "Hats off to the county and to the airport administration for taking that airport in a really great direction the last decade or so."

"And if they stay a little bit or come early, I welcome them to visit our restaurants and other things we have here," he added.
