BARRON, WI (WSAU) -- The family of Jayme Closs has released a statement thanking everyone who has shown support for the 13-year-old girl following her escape from captivity.

The statement reads:

“Jayme and her family wish to extend their deepest gratitude for the incredible gifts and generous donations that she has received from all over the country and around the world. Jayme greatly appreciates each and every gift, as well as the many cards and letters. The many kind words have been a source of great comfort to her.”

In the weeks since Closs was reunited with her family, thousands have given money to fundraisers or sent cards and other words of encouragement as she continues to heal.

Closs' parents were shot dead the evening of October 15th, the same night she was taken and held in a home in the Town of Gordon until early January. Jake Thomas Patterson is jailed on suspicion of committing the homicides and keeping Jayme in his home for 88 days before she escaped.

Patterson has not entered a plea to the charges against him. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 27th.
