TOWN OF GORDON, WI (WSAU) -- New details surrounding what happened to 13-year-old Jayme Closs for 88 days after she was kidnapped and her parents were shot dead in their Barron County home emerged on Tuesday.
USA Today-Wisconsin reports that 21-year-old Jake Patterson may have hosted a Christmas gathering in his Douglas County home while Closs was hidden under his bed with strict orders to keep quiet.
The party was reportedly attended by Patterson's father and sister along with the people they were dating. One investigator said Patterson threatened to kill Closs if she made a sound during the gathering.
USA Today Wisconsin cited two sources speaking on the condition of anonymity because the investigation remains open. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald did not comment on the matter.
Closs told investigators Patterson would keep her hidden under his twin bed, enclosed on two sides by the walls of his Town of Gordon home and on the others by storage totes and laundry baskets, sealed in by barbell weights so he would know if she tried to move or escape. Often times she would go for hours without access to food, water, or a bathroom.
Patterson is currently being held in the Polk County Jail through an agreement with Barron County. His next court appearance is set for February 6th. Prosecutors in Douglas County are continuing to investigate the case and have said that additional charges against him are possible.
