STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -- A popular annual tasting event is set for this Friday.
The Taste of Wisconsin event returns to UW-Stevens Point on Friday night. The sample event that has sold out for the past four years will be at the Dreyfus University Center at 7 p.m with 32 different vendors to sample from.
Greg Diekroger, the Director of Campus Activities and Student Engagement at UWSP says it's a basic tasting event that allows you to sample Wisconsin made products. "We have 32 vendors coming in all from the state of Wisconsin. We have some beer, we have some wine. We have a distillery. We have some meat processing places. Some cheese companies and factories are coming in. So it's just an opportunity to sample some things you might not normally purchase."
Diekroger says some of the vendors who will be at the event Friday night include, "The Stevens Point Brewery and Ossos have been to almost all of the Taste of Wisconsin's. Polito's Pizza based here in Stevens Point, they've been to all of them as well providing pizza. The Sunset Point Winery will be there. We've got City Lights brewing company out of Milwaukee along with Good Sea Brewing. They're a brand new brewing company out of Milwaukee."
And don't worry if you like samples, Diekroger says there aren't any limits. But that it is just a sampling event and you won't get close to a full meal. "We don't have any limits but we do provide a sample glass when you arrive. And that's less than 4 oz so even if you fill that up, that's not too much. And then for the foodstuff, it's all proportioned out for people to get truly a sample."
As of Thursday afternoon, only 32 tickets remain for the event. Diekroger says you can get your ticket online or by calling the campus ticketing office. The event is 21+, tickets are $27 for the general public and $22 for UWSP students.
