"It Ain't Like That" was on the 1990 Alice In Chains album Facelift (when I mentioned it on the air I said Dirt). Singles from the album were released from 1990 through 1992 (when Dirt was released). Facelift took a while to gain traction. The biggest single from the album was "Man In The Box," which was released in January of 1991, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal in 1992.
Guitarist, Jerry Cantrell, stated the album was intended to have a "moody aura" that was a "direct result of the brooding atmosphere and feel of Seattle."It Ain't Like That" came out of a riff that Cantrell cited as a mistake, however he called it "a cool mistake."
