WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- The City of Wausau is continuing to try and figure out how to solve it's growing public transit issues.

Greg Seubert, Transit Director for the city, says there's been discussions with area businesses about signing on and helping with the transit issues, but nothing concrete is in place yet.

He said, "I think there will be a greater effort to get commitments from (businesses), but at this point were just sharing information and at some point we'll ask them to get on board with a plan."

Seubert says they've been working on more outreach activities, and that started with Ribfest and Chalkfest weekend in July.

"We provided shuttle services between those two events," said Seubert. "Over the Thursday through Saturday we provided (about) 4,200 rides between the two events. We thought it was pretty successful."

The citizens of the village of Weston voted to stop paying for the Metro Ride services in 2014. Rothschild and Schofield wanted to continue the service, but did not have enough resources without the help from Weston as well.
