SHAWANO, WI (WSAU) -- A Shawano man has been arrested for a child pornography investigation.
A 24-year-old man from Shawano was arrested by the Shawano County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday from an investigation that began in November. The investigation began when the Wisconsin DOJ's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force let Shawano Police know that inappropriate images of children were shared on a social media platform.
A joint investigation between the Shawano Police Department and the Shawano County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force resulted in a warrant for a house on Sawyer Street. The warrant was carried out on December 11th, and several cell phones and laptops were taken. After looking through the seized items, the investigation found over 1,000 images of child pornography.
The man is being held at the Shawano County Jail as the information is being reviewed by an attorney. The incident and evidence are still under investigation and no more information is being released at this time.
