AMHERST JUNCTION, WI (WSAU) -- A Black River Falls woman is dead after a single-car crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Highway B in Portage County.
The State Patrol says the incident happened Sunday afternoon at 12:15 when her Lincoln Towncar was exiting Highway 10. Officers said she approached the bottom of the ramp at a high rate of speed, missed the stop sign, and rolled into the ditch after crossing both lanes of County B.
The 82-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Her 81-year-old passenger was taken to Aspirus Wausau for non-life threatening injuries. Names of those involved have not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
Alcohol was not a factor in the incident. Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts. The Wisconsin State Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
