WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -  A Wausau babysitter who is a homicide suspect in the death of a 2-month old boy is charged in an earlier child-abuse case. 28-year-old Marissa Tietsort appeared in Marathon County court on Monday.

Tietsort was charged with physical abuse of a child from an incident in August. A criminal complaint says Tietsort was babysitting an 8-month-old when the baby sustained injuries to their face. She told the parents the baby fell off the couch onto the carpet. The baby was taken to a doctor who believed the child was a victim of abuse.

In a separate incident from last Thursday, a parent called police after picking up her 2-month-old son from Tietsort’s apartment. The child was unresponsive. Police said they believe the baby died will in the care of Tietsort but are waiting for final autopsy results before they refer homicide charges.

Tietsort was also suspected of of child abuse in June of 2017. The parents of a 3-month-old say their baby sustained a fractured skull while in Tietsort's care. No charges were ever filed in that case.

Court records show that four of Teitsort’s own children were permanently removed from her care.

She’s currently being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
