STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - A Plover man who didn't return home from a bike ride on Wednesday has been found dead in Stevens Point.
Christopher Nielsen, 53, was reported missing by family members when he didn't return home from riding his bicycle. Police were called to the family's home at Rivers Edge Court around 9:30pm. He was last seen in the late afternoon. The area was searched that evening.
Around 8:30 Thursday morning Nielsen's body was found on a bike trail near Riverview Avenue along the Wisconsin River in Stevens Point. A statement from Plover and Stevens Point police say that a bicycle-related accident is a contributing factor in his death.
The matter is still under investigation.
