Man Sentenced for Stabbing Case

MEDFORD, WI (WSAU) -- A Medford man has been sentenced for a stabbing back in May.

Derek Novak aged 25 of Phillips was sentenced for charges of aggravated battery-intended bodily harm and 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety on Thursday afternoon. Two other charges of 1st-degree reckless homicide and bail jumping were dismissed. Novak pleaded no contest to the charges back in August. He will serve a prison sentence of just over 9 months for having a sentencing credit of 169 days.

Novak was arrested for stabbing Stormy Webber, aged 34 of Medford in a child custody fight. Novak is the father of a child now in the care of Webber. The two fought outside of their cars on County Highway Q with children in both of their cars.

Novak will also be on extended supervision for 5 years after his prison sentence.
