LADYSMITH, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) A man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the shooting death of a Rusk County deputy. Doug Nitek appeared in court Wednesday to learn his fate in the 2016 shooting of Dan Glaze. He’d been convicted of first degree intentional homicide in September.

After his sentencing, Nitek issued a statement saying he fired shots that took Deputy Glaze's life and that he was sorry.

Glaze was investigating a suspicious vehicle when he was shot on October 29, 2016. Police found marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside.

Nitek, 45, will not have the possibility of parole.
