Two in Custody for Hotel Standoff

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- Two men are in custody after a standoff at a hotel in Stevens Point.

WAOW-TV is reporting at 3:40 on Friday afternoon Stevens Point Police responded to a call at the Knights Inn on Church St. The two suspects, Michael A. Westfahl, and Denae M. Westfal were staying at the hotel.

The men were taken into custody on active warrants by law enforcement. The two had been involved in armed burglaries in Adams County and were considered armed and dangerous.

Multiple law enforcement officials including SWAT teams from Stevens Point, Plover, and Portage County made contact with the suspects. Denae was taken into custody without incident at 3:48 pm. Michael surrendered to law enforcement a little bit later at 5 pm.

Inside the hotel room, authorities found multiple loaded firearms such as an AR-15 and handguns.

Church St. was blocked off to the public due to the standoff from 4:30 pm until around 6 pm. No further information is being released at this time.
