MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- City officials in Marshfield have adopted a new 'strategic plan' for the next three years, and city administrator Steve Barg says the plan will help guide long-range planning in five major areas.

"We had some categories, there are five of them:  Economic Development, Financial Resources, Human Resources, Infrastructure, and Communication."  Barg explained, "These were the areas where the most need was in terms of trying to identify some action items and get some things accomplished."

The plan includes suggested 'action items' and timelines for priorities for the next three years.  According to the city administrator,  "We've listed all the action items with deadlines, so this plan would be effective for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021."

And Barg said that the plan will be reviewed by city staff on an ongoing basis, to assess its effectiveness, and make sure it stays on track.  "No plan is good if you don't continue to evaluate it, and make sure that you're hitting the mark in what you're trying to do."

That strategic plan was approved at a special meeting of Marshfield's Common Council earlier in the week.
