WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- The stalled Riverlife project will be moving forward come spring 2019.
In the first city council meeting of the calendar year, the Wausau city council passed a resolution awarding the development contract of the Riverlife VIllages Phase 1 project.
Gorman and Company based out of Madison submitted a proposal to continue the project back in October of 2018. After being recommended by the economic development committee to take over the project in November, the city council made the transition to Gorman official Tuesday night.
The resolution also stated the city would pay the liens from the original developer with it's original financial contribution to the project. The original financial contribution of the city is around $2.5 million. With the repayment of the leans there would be a restart of the project.
The resolution was passed unanimously by all 8 council members in attendance. The project will restart construction in the spring of 2019.
