Y2Kessler: Uppercut O'Malleys

Have you ever played the game Diablo? There's a quest early on where a boy, named Wurt, requires you to find his wooden leg. Every time I listen to this song, not only do I think about the Martin Scorcese film "The Departed", but it also makes me think about trying to find Wurt's missing leg. This song has nothing to do with that whatsoever.

This song came off Dropkick Murphy's 2005 album "The Warrior's Code" and would be used heavily in The Departed a year later. The Boston Red-Sox closer would eventually use it as his intro song too!

Another fun fact about this song is that the lyrics were technically written by Woody Guthrie! If you don't know who he is, look up a little song called "This Land Is Your Land". It's a bop.  Lead singer Ken Casey was invited to look through Woody Guthrie's archives, and found the lyrics written on a piece of paper. Dropkick Murphy's decided to put music to the lyrics, and they made it their own. So technically what you'e listening to is an unreleased Woody Guthrie song, covered by Dropkick Murphys! I wonder what this song would have been had Woody Guthrie recorded it, or decided to write more lyrics?
