ANTIGO, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- An Antigo man will stand trial for accusations that he tried to kill his ex-girlfriend in late September.

WAOW TV reports that 40-year-old Cory Brown entered a not guilty plea to over 20 charges, including Attempt 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide, 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and Contact after Domestic Abuse Arrest. A Forest County judge then determined that the case should go to trial.

Brown is accused of beating the woman to the point of unconsciousness in her home in Crandon. She says Brown punched her and strangled her, and when police found her she was bleeding from her right temple area. She also had bruising and scratches on her face and neck.

The woman also accused him of threatening her by saying “You’re lucky I don’t have a gun right now or I’d kill you.”

When Police caught up to Brown later that evening he reportedly denied anything happened in the home, then told officers "what are we going to do without my side of the story? I have nothing to tell you, let's go."

Brown's jury trial is scheduled for January 16th and 17th, 2019.
