WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- The Wausau branch of the Marathon County Public Library is hosting it's 1st book to movie night on Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 PM.

The library will first show the 2007 movie of Charlotte's Web and then have a discussion afterward about how it compares to the novel by E.B. White from 1952. Library Specialist Dan Richter explains why the library chose Charlotte's Web as the first book to movie adaptation. "We feel like it's a book, everybody's probably read or at least knows the story too. And so it's a good way for people to bridge the gap between literature and movies. And kind of discuss if the book really is better than the movie in their opinion."

Richter also mentions that the story appeals to all ages, making it an easy pick for the library. "It'll appeal to kids, their parents, maybe even their grandparents or anybody kind of any age. Like I said it's been around for a while and so it's a story people seem to really really love."

The event is designed to be for the whole family. Richter describes why the event works for parents and children. "Because they have mass appeal probably parents watched it with the kids or maybe read some of these books when they were children too. It kind of helps hit all the areas that way two parents don't have to arrange a sitter or have to come on their own, everyone can come with. It's a way for people to kind of come to the library, spend a few hours together, inspire maybe the whole family to get together and read something."

The Marathon County Public Library has plans to continue the book to movie series. The next one will be the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar and the Disney movie adaptation on November 27th.
