Rock Illuminati Results 9/18/2017

This time around, we got back to looking at the new hotness on Rock 94.7.

In addition to that, we're also going to start reporting the results of our weekly Ear Candy page updates here too.  I should have been doing that MUCH sooner.  That's on me.

Here's what we learned from the latest Rock Illuminati Music Survey:

  • You made the case for DED's "Anti Everything" being song of the year again.
  • Maybe it's because you're excited about seeing them headline  Sonic Boom .  Five Finger Death Punch came back STRONG AF this week.
  • We saw it in the Big Boom survey , and we saw it with the new stuff too.  You're ready for Kid Rock to be heard again on Rock 94.7.
  • Theory of a Deadman has a BEAST of a hit on their hands with "RX".

Here's your Top 10 from this week's Survey:

10) Papa Roach - "Help"

9)  Shinedown - "How Did You Love"

8)  All That Remains - "Madness"

7)  I Prevail - "Alone"

6)  Stone Sour - "Song #3"

5)  Halestorm - "Mayhem"

4)  Motionless in White - "Loud"

3)  Fozzy - "Judas"

2)  Five Finger Death Punch - "Wash It All Away"

1)  Ded - "Anti Everything"

Alright, let's talk...

Here are the results of last week's Ear Candy.

_______________________________________

Shattered Sun "Burn It Down" = SWEET!

This isn't too shocking.  Shattered Sun has a very accessible sound for a heavy band.  They're being played on  Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare !

Sleeping With Sirens "Legends" = SOUR

Nothing shocking here either.  This has a LOT of pop stuff going on.  That sound has been much more "miss" than "hit" with you in the past.  That's still the case here.

Dude's voice sounds pitch-shifted up a few notches.  Reminds of the  Nightcore stuff my teen daughter listens to all the time.

Sons of Texas "Beneath the Riverbed" = SWEET!

Every time I hear these guys, I feel like Pantera decided to be a Southern Rock band.  Lead singer has a very Down-era Phil Anselmo tone to his voice.  Guitars are nice-n-downtuned with little squealy bits.  Given how well Pantera, Shaman's Harvest, and Blacktop Mojo did in recent music surveys, this one was guaranteed to do well.

Act of Defiance "M.I.A." = SWEET!

Good week for metal in this week's Ear Candy!

Act of Defiance features Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover, both of whom ran with Megadeth for a couple records.  Mega-Dave doesn't pick his bandmates lightly.  These guys were guaranteed to shred.  They're getting played on  The Nightmare .

_______________________________________

Code Orange "Bleeding in the Blur" = SOUR

I really thought this one would do A LOT better.

I caught Code Orange at Rock USA and they were heavy AF.  I was a little surprised when they released this as a single.

That said, I think it's a pretty cool song.  Very early Alice In Chains vibe, with really cool female vox.  We're playing it on  The Nightmare .  Maybe it will catch on with a little exposure there to start.

There's a new batch of  Ear Candy up for your approval now.  Rate the songs SWEET or SOUR and let us know if they should get some love on Rock 94.7!

As always, thanks for your participation and thanks for listening!
