MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- It's the final few days of 2018, and that means there's only a few more chances to take in Marshfield's dazzling Rotary Winter Wonderland lights display before it closes on New Year's Eve.
Event co-chair Scott Larson says it's also one last chance to help put food on the table for some of central Wisconsin's less fortunate. "I would encourage folks to come out and view the display and help us collect food and donations for the 20-plus food pantries that we're supporting here in the central Wisconsin area. The mission of the event is to raise funds and food for the needy."
The event is coming off a recent record-breaking weekend for both attendance and donations, and Larson says he hopes the final numbers are record-breakers too, even with cold weather in the forecast. "Obviously the weather's not cooperating with us ideally here, but we're going to do a little countdown down at the park for the new year. People can stay in their warm vehicle and still experience the light display."
You can walk or drive through the display in Marshfield's Wildwood Park; and the event is free but donations of cash or food for area food pantries are always appreciated.
The lights at Winter Wonderland go dark for another year at 9:00 on New Year’s Eve.
