UNDATED (MetroSouce-WSAU) -  Payments from President Trump's farm bailout program are starting to reach Wisconsin farmers.

Checks ranged from less than $100 for over 200 farms to more than $50,000 for eleven farms. Officials say the average payment was just over $2,145.

The program is meant to help U.S. dairy, pork, soybean, corn, and other farmers affected by falling prices as a result of trade battles with Canada, Mexico, China, and other countries. The program could cost the federal government about $4.2-billion. Around the nation 87,000 farms have received payments, totaling $356-million.
